One of our favorite reality-star duos hit the black carpet at the 2022 VMAs and they gave great looks, good vibes, and even shared their honest opinions on some of the wildest topics in music and entertainment.

Speaking with “Love & Hip-Hip” stars Cyn Santana and Jonathan Fernandez, we asked them about the controversy surrounding nominated artist Lizzo, who had been making headlines over rude remarks that were made about her by comedian Aries Spears.

What Was Said?

To keep you up to speed, in an interview with The Art of Dialogue, Spears was asked about Lizzo’s music. He replied saying, “I can’t get past the fact that she looks like the s— emoji,” he said. “She’s got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off. Like, come on, you?” “I’m sorry, listen,” he said, explaining that while he’s not “the most in shape,” he is “funny, has swagger and confidence, and is at least decent looking” enough to attract the opposite sex. “I think I’m at least handsome,” he said, adding, “A woman that’s built like a plate of mashed potatoes is in trouble.”

Now, you all know that did not sit well with Cyn and Jonathan who are both full of love and positive vibes. Jonathan said, “I want to say something to him: ‘go f*ck yourself. Who are you to police anyone’s weight? Kick rocks dude.’”

The Latin singer chimed in and said, “you want to know something? I have a million encouraging words but I feel like that girl vibrates such positive energy, she knows that she’s f*cking everything.” Cyn went on to say, “She knows she’s beautiful and the vibe but obviously don’t listen to these people.”

Later that night, while accepting her award in the video for good category, the 34-year-old “About Damn Time” singer thanked fans for “supporting me and loving on me” before calling out her haters:

“And now, for bitches that got something to say about me in the press,” she said, in a callback to Nicki Minaj’s nearly identical 2015 VMAs opener. “You know what? I’m not going to say nothing.”

“They be like, ‘Lizzo why don’t you clap back? Why don’t you clap back?’ ‘Cause, bitch, I’m winning, hoe!,” Lizzo said, to thunderous applause. “Big bitch is winning, ho! Best revenge is your paper, bitch!”

She later posted a clip of her speech to her Twitter, account, cheekily writing, “🗣KEEP MY NAME IN YO MOUF CUS I KNOW IT TASTE GOOD BITCH 🏆” While that seemed like a clear message to Spears, she said she was not talking about anyone specific:

“Lemme make one thing VERY clear—I wasn’t addressing anybody in the my speech last night…I was addressing EVERYBODY.”
