As we previously reported, during an interview with Variety, Kim encouraged women to: “Get your f—ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.” Following the clip going viral online, the reality star was slammed over her “tone-deaf” comments.
Kim, 34, did have some fans come to get defense, but many were quick to remind her that she was born into a life of immense privilege in Beverly Hills.

The beauty mogul is now speaking out in a new interview to respond to all the backlash. While appearing on Good morning America, Kim said, “It wasn’t a blanket statement towards women … it was taken out of context, but I’m really sorry if it was received that way.”

As a reminder, Kardashian’s comments came at a time when women are still struggling to return to the workforce after suffering devastating losses during the coronavirus pandemic. With knowing that, Kim further explained:

“That statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a soundbite really with no context,” said Kardashian. “That soundbite came off of the notion and the question right before, which was, ‘After 20 years of being in the business, you’re famous for being famous,’ and my whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about what advice would you give to women.”

Kardashian went on to tell Roberts that despite how easy people may think she has it, Kim also noted that building a business off social media takes “a lot of hard work.”

“Having a social media presence and being on a reality show does not mean overnight success, and you have to really work hard to get there, even if it might seem like it’s easy and that you can build a really successful business off of social media,” she said. “And you can, if you put in a lot of hard work.”
