A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian 1 euro (approximately $1.15) in damages for the 2016 armed robbery that left her bound and robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week.
According to the Associated Press, an attorney involved in the case said Kardashian personally requested the symbolic compensation amount rather than seeking a larger financial award. Last year, a French court found eight people guilty for their roles in the robbery.
Kardashian Says the Case Was About Accountability
Following the ruling, Kardashian and her longtime stylist, Simone Harouche, released a joint statement emphasizing that the case was never about money.
The pair said the proceedings were focused on “accountability and recognition” and thanked the court, investigators, and those who supported them throughout the years-long legal process.
Kardashian has previously spoken publicly about the lasting emotional impact the robbery had on her life and security.
Other Victims Also Received Compensation
The court also awarded compensation to other victims connected to the robbery.
A former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the robbery occurred, was awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472) after telling the court he continued to suffer trauma from the incident. He had originally sought 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages.
Meanwhile, the Hôtel de Pourtalès was awarded 50,000 euros ($57,741).
According to the Associated Press, the individuals convicted in the case had already served time in pretrial detention and did not return to prison following the verdict. None of the defendants appealed their convictions.
