Kevin Hart Speaks On Defending Ellen DeGeneres And Nick Cannon: ‘I Know Who They Are’
Earlier this month, Kevin Hart spoke out on social media to defend his good friend Ellen DeGeneres, who has been hit with multiple allegations by her former staff. Despite employees claiming to have worked in a “toxic environment” while on set of her talk show, Hart, 41, said that Ellen, 62, has been nothing but nice to his family and that he loves the comedian “for life.”

The actor and comedian got a little backlash for his post but he didn’t let the negative feedback get to him. In fact, he recently spoke out again, sharing why he defended Ellen and fellow actor Nick Cannon who also came under fire for his “anti-Semitic” comments he recently made on a podcast.
In an interview with Deadline published Tuesday, Hart explained, “I don’t lose sight of the definition of friendship, and in our business, it’s one thing that people don’t really hold on to,” he said. “There’s a lot of relationships that are fake, and there’s some that are real. In my case, the ones that are real are the ones that I’m always going to be adamant about speaking on behalf of.” Hart also told Deadline he knows what kind of people his friends are, despite all of the heavy accusations against them.
Hart went on to say, “When it comes to Nick, and it comes Ellen, I know who they are, and I know who they’ve been for the years that I’ve been around them, and I can only speak to that,” he said. “Those are two of the most amazing people that I know.”
As many can recall, Hart also experienced
cancel culture in 2018 after old tweets of his resurfaced which were criticized as “homophobic.” At the time, he was set to host the Academy Awards but ultimately stepped down.
“In times like this, I know also how dark it gets,” he said. “I know how lonely it gets, because I know that these are times when people just turn their back on you. So for the ones that you love, that are close to your heart, you just want them to have some support when it seems that there is none out there, and that’s just who I am as a person.”
