Kevin Federline has revealed a surprising detail about his marriage to Britney Spears, claiming she called Justin Timberlake the night before their wedding to make sure things were truly over between them.

According to PEOPLE, Federline shared the story while discussing his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He explained that the call caught him completely off guard. “I just kind of stepped back like, ‘Did I just hear you right? What the hell is going on’? And I immediately was, ‘Okay, we don’t have to do this.’ I didn’t care if we got married or not,” he recalled. “And she told me no and really was like, ‘I just wanted to make sure that everything is done.’”
Federline said at the time he thought she was calling her mother, not Timberlake, and added that he took the situation with a “grain of salt.”

Federline Says Spears Wasn’t Over Timberlake
Federline also claimed that Spears wasn’t completely over her past relationship with Timberlake, even though the two had broken up two years earlier.
“I was super young. I was so madly in love at that moment,” he continued. “I couldn’t imagine what it was like to be her, I couldn’t imagine what it was like to be Justin in those moments, because they were super young.”
The couple married in 2004 and divorced in 2007, sharing two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

A representative for Britney Spears responded to the renewed attention surrounding Federline’s memoir, which is set to be released on October 21.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
Spears, who released her own memoir The Woman in Me in 2023, has largely avoided publicly addressing Federline’s recent remarks but continues to focus on her family and personal growth.
