Tiffanie Lucas,32, was arrested on two counts of murder in the homicide deaths of her two sons, Jayden,9, and Maurice,6. The Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that law enforcement responded to a call about a shooting on Wednesday in Shepardsville. When they entered the home, they discovered the two boys in one of the bedrooms, and a gun was found on a bed, which they believe is the murder weapon, as reported by TOO FAB. The boys died while receiving surgery after arriving at a hospital.
“We did all we could. There were two victims in the bedroom. They were covered in blood, and a gun on the bed. Whether you think it’s mental illness, just pure evil, or a combination of both, it could be substance abuse or any combination thereof. Pick your poison. None of it’s good. The result is horrific., said chief deputy Alex Payne.

Payne said that the families of the two brothers were notified as they did not have the same father. He said, “The father of one of the victims is deceased. The father of the other victim is unknown. Whereabouts are unknown. Other family members, we got hold of and made notification.” As for Lucas, she had a previous conviction for drug possession. She is being held on a $2 million bond, and a judge has reportedly entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf. The family feels like the bond is not high enough due to Lucas’ lack of remorse, as she was seen with her arms folded across her chest during the hearing.
Family members also said that they contacted CPS multiple times throughout the years, and Jayden’s brother, Durrell Howard, said he maintained contact after their father died in 2019. He also became more involved in the boys’ lives and said the family would’ve welcomed them with open arms while speaking with WLKY.
“I should have did more. If it came to me snatching the boys out of the house, I should have, and I will hold that on my back for the rest of my life. For both them boys,” Howard explained. However, he found comfort in knowing the boys were not alone.
“I just know Jayden and Peanut they’re together. And I know our father was probably waiting on them, waiting on both of them.”
