Javaughn Young-White has taken legal action to seek full custody of his 5-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi, who he co-parents with singer Kehlani

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Young-White, who was in a relationship with Kehlani from 2018 to 2019, has requested full custody of their daughter and has alleged that the singer is involved in a cult. “Adeya was born through a home birth orchestrated by what I would describe as a cult that she belongs in,” Young-White states in the documents. “Due to the fact that Adeya was born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hospital, my name is not on Adeya’s birth certificate.”

Young-White claims that he has been trying to have his name added to his daughter’s birth certificate for five years but has not received a response from Kehlani. He also states that Kehlani has not provided him with their daughter’s social security number and he is unsure if Adeya even has one. The court document further alleges that the group exerts control over Kehlani’s actions and influences decisions regarding their daughter’s upbringing.

Young-White asserts that the cult leader manipulated Kehlani into believing that he posed a threat to their daughter’s safety and even convinced her to prevent Young-White from seeing Adeya for an extended period of time.

Young-White also claims that the cult leader has faced multiple accusations of sexual assault involving women and young girls. He further alleges that in the past, when Kehlani was on tour, he would have the opportunity to spend time with Adeya. However, Young-White now asserts that Kehlani leaves their daughter in the care of “random strangers” who are purportedly members of the cult, including its leader.

In the court documents, Young-White claims that when their daughter is in the care of others, she is allowed to sleep in the same bed with them and is bathed by individuals who are strangers associated with the cult. He also alleges that Kehlani permits a cult member referred to as “Messiah,” an adult woman, to bathe with Adeya while under the influence of psychedelic substances.

Young-White asserts that despite his attempts to address these concerns with Kehlani, she has not been receptive and has resorted to publicly criticizing him on social media platforms.

He is seeking legal recognition of his paternity in order to exercise his rights as Adeya’s father. Additionally, Young-White is requesting child support from Kehlani.
