There’s nothing better than being financially stable enough to give back to the people who held you down through the ups and downs. And New York Giants NFL star Kayvon Thibodeaux would know all about that after recently purchasing his mother, Shawnta Loice, a house out in Los Angeles that came with an accompanying basketball court, a swimming pool, and views overlooking sunny California.
In the video posted to his Twitter page on Monday, Thibodeaux, who is from South Los Angeles, expressed how he had to live with another family when he started high school as he opened up about the financial challenges his family faced growing up. “For five years of my life, I never had dinner with my mom. You know, we never sat at a table with my family. We never had a place for all the family to get together for Christmas and for holidays when the time came.”

He continued, “So, now just being able to provide that is a blessing,” adding that he hoped that sharing his story would inspire others to follow their dreams the same way he did. Loice said she still couldn’t believe the blessings that have come her family’s way after her son was drafted by the Giants fifth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old has certainly made his mother proud, and this only seems to be the beginning of what’s bound to be a prosperous career for the Cali native.
Kayvon Thibodeaux was born on December 15, 2000, in South Central Los Angeles, California. He attended Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, California, where he played football and basketball. Thibodeaux quickly made a name for himself on the football field, earning a five-star rating and being ranked as the top overall prospect in the 2019 recruiting class.
Thibodeaux grew up in a rough neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles. His mother, a single parent, worked multiple jobs to support him and his siblings. Thibodeaux turned to sports as a way to stay out of trouble and provide a better life for his family. He excelled in both football and basketball, but it was football that ultimately captured his heart.
Thibodeaux’s high school football career was nothing short of spectacular. He recorded 54.5 sacks and 110 tackles for loss in three seasons, earning numerous awards and accolades along the way. Thibodeaux’s performance on the field earned him a scholarship to the University of Oregon, where he would continue to dominate.
Thibodeaux wasted no time making an impact at Oregon. In his freshman season, he recorded 35 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks, earning Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors. Thibodeaux’s dominance continued into his sophomore season, where he recorded 38 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks in just seven games.
Thibodeaux’s impressive college football career has put him firmly in the conversation as a potential top pick in the upcoming NFL draft. He has been praised for his size, strength, and athleticism, and is widely considered one of the best pass rushers to come out of college football in recent years.
