Kandi Burruss has made it clear that LaTocha Scott will not be playing her after the latter’s criticisms of her vocal abilities in a recent video. LaTocha is arguably seen by many as the lead singer of Xscape, and her comments suggested that the two couldn’t develop a close relationship because of Kandi’s issues with her getting to sing lead vocals in the ’90s. LaTocha then posted an unflattering clip of Kandi singing on “RHOA” – which seemed to be the last straw for the “Don’t Think I’m Not” singer who has now addressed the situation on her YouTube channel, Kandi Online.
Kandi questioned how LaTocha could poke fun at the very voice that had made Xscape’s biggest hits. She also expressed that it was absurd to ridicule somebody whose voice had been used for half of the songs which LaTocha had been claiming fame from, with the most successful being “Just Kickin’ It.” Kandi then made a point about how she is supposed to be making money with someone who is now choosing to mock the voice that has achieved more than the other. The shade!
One of my favorite parts of Speak On It. The FACTS are FACTING. LaTocha really is out here looking like a clown 🤡 #rhoa #TheQueensOfRB #Kandi pic.twitter.com/IRTOSmjbxk

“You are trying to clown a person’s voice whose voice is leading on half the hits that is your claim to fame. The biggest hit that you’ve ever been on, which is ‘Just Kickin’ It,’ is the voice that you’ve been clowning,” she said on her YouTube channel. “But you on your video trying to make jokes about my voice, the same voice [that’s] accomplished more than you with your amazing voice that you try to put out there that you have!”
Kandi and LaTocha were two of the founding members of Xscape, along with sisters Tamika Scott and Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle. Kandi was the youngest member of the group and had a reputation as a talented songwriter. LaTocha was known for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence. As Xscape’s popularity grew, tensions began to rise between the group’s members. Kandi felt that she wasn’t getting enough credit for her songwriting contributions, while LaTocha felt that she wasn’t getting enough solo opportunities.
The exact cause of the feud between Kandi and LaTocha is unclear, but it seems to have started after Xscape’s reunion tour was announced in 2017. Kandi had previously declined to participate, citing conflicts with her schedule and concerns about the group’s management. But she eventually agreed to join, which was set to feature all four original members of Xscape. LaTocha, who had been performing as a solo artist, was also on board for the reunion.

Kandi previously appeared on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” and was asked about her relationship with LaTocha. Kandi responded by saying that LaTocha had been “shady” in the past and that she didn’t trust her. LaTocha responded on Twitter, saying that she was “disappointed” by Kandi’s comments and that she had always been supportive of Kandi’s career.
The social media exchanges between Kandi and LaTocha continued, with both women taking shots at each other online, which has now led us to this point.
