Kamala Harris Makes History As First Female Vice President, First Woman VP Of Color!
This Saturday, many Americans woke up to the news we’ve all been waiting to hear: Joe Biden has been elected as the 46th President of the United States, unseating Donald Trump from his spot in office.

This big historic win now also makes Kamala Harris the first Black woman elected as vice president of the United States, shattering barriers that have kept men at the highest levels of American politics for more than two centuries!
The 56-year-old California senator, is also the first person of South Asian descent elected to the vice presidency. Her husband, entertainment lawyer Doug Emhoff, will be the first “Second Gentleman.” Harris took to social media to share her first tweet as VP. She said:
“This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started.”
President-elect Joe Biden also shared his first presidential tweet saying:
“America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”
