Justin Bieber Drops $20M Defamation Suit Against Sexual Assault Accusers

In 2020, Justin Bieber filed a $20 million defamation suit against two Twitter users who accused him of sexual assault. Khadidja Djibrine and a woman identified only as Danielle posted a series of tweets in 2020 and alleged that Bieber assaulted them on separate occasions in 2014 and 2015.

Danielle alleged that Bieber assaulted her on March 9, 2014, after having invited her to his hotel room in Austin, Texas. Bieber was not letting those allegations slide and dismissed them by posting receipts, email screenshots, and news articles to his social media accounts that indicate he was with his girlfriend at the time, Selena Gomez, the night of the alleged assault. He even tweeted at the time, “Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement.” The other young lady, Djibrine accused Bieber of having invited her to his New York City hotel room around 2:30 a.m. May 5, 2015, and assaulting her.

Despite those heavy allegations, attorneys for the Biebs filed a request for dismissal in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week, NBC News reports. The court documents did not reveal whether Bieber and the defendants had agreed on a settlement. However, it was said that he has ultimately “decided to move on and dismiss the case for defamation filed in 2020,” Evan Spiegel, an attorney for Bieber, shared Tuesday evening.

Billboard reported that the case was tentatively set for trial in May. Djibrine nor Danielle have spoken out one the result of their case with the singer.
