Jussie Smollett Found Guilty!
After hours of deliberation formee “Empire” star Jussie Smollett was found guilty and convicted on five charges that he staged an anti-gay, racist hate crime on himself and subsequently lied to Chicago police about it. He was acquitted on one of the counts.
According to MattFinnfnc on Twitter, this not guilty count, “Smollett was found not guilty about lying about aggravated battery. That charge was because his attackers were wearing masks.”
The verdict arrives after a week long trial in which brothers Abimbola and Olabingo Osundairo testified that Smollett hired them to fake an attack on him in 2019. As we reported, per ABC News, prosecutor Dan Webb told the jury on Wednesday that the evidence against that Smollett faked a hate crime is “overwhelming,” and that his actions caused the Chicago police to spend a lot of wasted time and resources investigating an alleged crime that was fake.
