What a year it’s been for Johnny Depp. After an explosive defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor’s career is finally getting back on track, with a new report claiming Johnny will be returning to the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” franchise to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for a sixth installment. According to The Sun, who claim to have obtained a call sheet from the upcoming production, Johnny is expected to film a test shoot over in the UK sometime in February.
The news publication notes that Disney, which owns the billion-dollar franchise that encompasses not just a series of films but also two theme park attractions and several video games and novels, is already said to be working on the upcoming flick’s title, with production to commence soon after the test shoot early next year. The news comes just days after The Walt Disney Company board surprised staff by replacing its current CEO Bob Chapek with Bob Iger, who’d been the Chief Executive Officer of the company for 15 years.

“Johnny is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow and is scheduled to start filming at the beginning of February at a top secret location in the UK,” a source revealed. “Bruce Hendricks, who worked on the first three films, is named as the Executive Producer on the new project. All the other details are being kept under lock and key. The whole project is shrouded in secrecy and Disney want to keep everything under wraps as best they can.”
To date, Disney has released five movies in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, bringing in more than $4.5 billion at the box office. And while Johnny was a household name long before attaching his name to the first installment in 2003, the father-of-two’s popularity soared thanks to the enormous success of these movies.
Not to mention that Johnny, according to multiple reports, made approximately $300 million from all five films, making him one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. He last played Captain Jack Sparrow in 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” before his working relationship with Disney turned sour over his volatile marriage with Amber Heard.

During the court case in April, Johnny accused Disney of making him feel “guilty until proven innocent” after the studio allegedly cut ties with the Kentucky native amid claims he caused physical and emotional harm onto Amber.
At the time, Amber’s legal team had quizzed Johnny by asking him, “If Disney came to you with $300million dollars and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates Of The Caribbean film?” Johnny replied, saying, “That is true.”
