John Legend wasn’t keen on sharing that he and Chrissy Teigen had suffered a miscarriage in 2020 with their late son Jack. As many will recall, the model took to her Instagram where she announced the news accompanied by a series of photos showing her weeping upon learning about her devastating loss.

At the time, some people even said the photos were too personal to share on social media — let alone the public — and in a new interview, Legend said that he, too, was reluctant on being so open about one of the most heartbreaking things he’s had to endure. While speaking to BBC Radio 4’s “Desert Island Discs,” the “All Of Me” singer said, “It was difficult, and I was hesitant to share it.”

“I think Chrissy was really right in encouraging us to share it because I think it really was powerful for a lot of people.” Legend and Teigen are already proud parents of two children: Luna, 6, and Miles, 3, and just last week, they announced that another baby is on the way. Further touching on the miscarriage revelation, the Grammy winner continued, “Way more people than anybody realizes go through this.

“They told us they felt alone a lot of times, and us sharing our experience helped people feel less alone and feel like there were other people going through it and there was a community of people going through it,” Legend continued.

“I think it was a really powerful, wise decision by Chrissy to share it because it helped a lot of people.”

Their decision to share their miscarriage seemingly made it easier for their celebrity pals to reach out and support the pair on how to cope during the grieving process since some of their friends had been through the same ordeal themselves.

But the “You & I” vocalist added that there’s no easy way in dealing with a miscarriage, nor does it get any easier to think about it — particularly after taking to social media to tell their millions of followers about it. “It’s hard to try to comfort anyone that’s going through it because there’s no real comfort,” he expressed.

“You’re always going to feel that loss. It kind of spreads over time, so it doesn’t feel as heavy over time, but you’ll never forget it.”

Earlier this month, Legend announce he will be releasing his eighth studio album, “Legend,” on September 19.
