Actor John Boyega is not only married but has also secretly welcomed his first baby, with model and actress Lashontae “Tae” Heckard.
On Tuesday (October 13), reports began surfacing of Boyega revealing he secretly tied the knot two years ago. While speaking to The Guardian, Boyega opened up about his personal life ahead of the release of the documentary, ‘Damilola: The Untold Story.’
The 34-year-old ‘Star Wars’ actor then revealed that he’s been married for “coming up two years now.” Boyega didn’t reveal to whom he was married, but did say that he and his wife had a small ceremony. He said also said that he has two sets of wedding rings. He has one two-toned band (with priceless “sentimental” value) and another brand that he later purchased. On the first band, he said:
“This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this. It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!”

Boyega, who is of Nigerian descent, said that he and his wife did not have a traditional Nigerian wedding. However, he would “love” to have a proper celebration in the future. He said:
“We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry. And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!”
Boyega also told the outlet that he has a baby “on the way,” noting that it’s a boy. He said:
“We got a baby cooking. My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing.”
As Boyega’s interview went viral, social media continued to speculate that his wife and child’s mother is Tae Heckard. The two have been sparking speculation for months. The two not only exclusively follow each other on Instagram, but Heckard’s name online shows as: “Tae Boyega.”
One hour before Wednesday (October 14) hit on the East Coast, Boyega confirmed that he and Tae already secretly welcomed a baby together. In photos, the two are both wearing wedding rings. In Boyega’s caption, he wrote:
“Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now, but thank you for all the well wishes. My sister is about to pop! Wish her well too! 🥰 Back to feeding this big baby!”
This is Boyega’s first child, and Heckard’s second. She has an older son, Brandon Byron Jennings Jr., from a previous relationship with former NBA player Brandon Jennings.
