Joe Biden Sexual Assault Accuser Tara Reade Dropped By Her #MeToo Lawyer

Tara Reade, the woman who is accusing presidential candidate Joe Biden of sexual assault, has been dropped by her lawyer, who is a part of the #MeToo movement.

In April, Reade, a former senate staffer to Biden, accused the Democratic presidential nominee of inappropriately touching and penetrating her in 1993. Since, Biden and his colleagues have affirmed his innocence. In recent times, Reade has even gone as far as to publicly request him to drop out of the presidential race.

Well, ironically, her attorney, Douglas Wigdor, announced on Friday (May 22) that he’d be dropping her as a client. In his statement, he claimed his decision did not relate to whether or not the alleged assault happened, but it does arrive after defense lawyers in California announced they were reviewing if “she misrepresented her credentials in past cases where she testified as an expert witness.”

Additionally, Wigdor stated, “Our Firm no longer represents Tara Reade. Our decision, made on May 20, is by no means a reflection on whether then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted Ms. Reade. On that point, our view — which is the same view held by the majority of Americans, according to a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll — has not changed.”

He adds, “Much of what has been written about Ms. Reade is not probative of whether then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted her, but rather is intended to victim-shame and attack her credibility on unrelated and irrelevant matters. We genuinely wish Ms. Reade well and hope that she, as a survivor, is treated fairly. We have and will continue to represent survivors regardless of their alleged predator’s status or politics.”
