Joe Biden Leaves Home For Memorial Day Ceremony In First Outing Amid Quarantine

For the first time since quarantine began, presidential candidate Joe Biden has left his home for a Memorial Day ceremony, where he sported a face mask to lay a wreath at the Delaware Memorial Bridge Veteran’s Memorial Park, alongside his wife, Jill.

Biden, who lost his oldest son and Army veteran, Beau Biden, in 2015 to brain cancer at age 46, told reporters while leaving the memorial site, “Never forget the sacrifices that these men and women made. Never, ever, forget.”

With the coronavirus lockdown, enacted in mid-March, Biden hadn’t publicly left his home in Delaware, aside from walks and bike rides around his neighborhood. Responding to a question about being in public on Memorial Day, Biden admitted, “It feels good to be out of my house.”

Additionally, he’s been campaigning from home ever since, and holding digital campaign events with other colleagues from his basement and living room.

Elsewhere, president Donald Trump honored service members at two events at Arlington National Cemetery in Viriginia and Fort McHenry in Baltimore.
