Joe Biden Calling On Congress To Immediately Forgive $10,000 In Student Loan Debt For All
As Joe Biden gears up to take office this month, it’s reported that he’s planning on calling on Congress to immediately forgive $10,000 in student loan debt for all borrowers.
Speaking with reporters on Friday afternoon, the 2020 President-elect says that in response to the COVID-19 crisis, he’s looking to Congress to help students pay off some of their educational debt, plus extend the payment pause, which began in March 2020, that’s scheduled to lapse this month. The pause was not included in the $900 billion COVID-19 relief package passed last month and many are concerned about the lapse.

Additionally, Biden’s commitment to forgive $10,000 in student debt for all borrowers fall directly in line with his promises during his campaigning. However, he’s still facing growing concern and pressure to cancel additional debt and to bypass Congress to get it done. #Socialites, thoughts?
Furthermore, a recent Pew survey revealed that nearly 60 percent of Americans claimed it’d be difficult for them to resume paying their loans once the payment pause lapses this month. Nearly 90 percent of borrowers have taken advantage of this pause during the pandemic.
