Jesse Williams On People Reacting To Him Being Fully Nude On Stage For Broadway Show: “I Don’t Like Any Of It”

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, actor Jesse Williams discussed being nude on stage for his new Broadway play “Take Me Out.”

As we previously reported, on Monday, Williams received a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role in the Broadway show. The show, which opened in April requires members to place their phones and devices in locked sleeves. However, one audience member broke the rules and leaked the video of Williams fully nude! Of course, social media has a field day with the now-viral leaked video. Even singer Tamar Braxton tweeted, “For sure Jessie Williams has three legs and one can for sure cure the ND acne on my face 😩,” she joked before adding, Ok… that wasn’t that saved🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m celibate 🤷🏽‍♀️ and the acne on my face looks like rocks! Just ONE touch lord🙏🏼✨😩.” Another Twitter user joked,
“You telling me Jesse Williams is Handsome, Sexy, articulate, humanitarian and he has a Big D.. I get why his ex wife can’t leave this man alone.. this light skin man could get it 😂😂.”

So how does Williams really feel about being naked in front of a bunch of people on stage?

While speaking Andy Cohen he said, “I don’t like any of it. I’ve learned in my minutes in theater, which is all a first for me, is don’t read into it. Because it just creates more insecurity.” Williams also told Cohen “A non-reaction is a really interesting reaction. The quiet, you know. Creates a lot of insecurity.” Cohen then asked, “How insane, though, that this is your stage debut and you’re, like, fully naked. I mean, that’s doubly scary.” Williams responded, “I’m told it’s quite insane, but it’s a first so I have nothing to compare it to and I won’t be scared of anything after this, that’s for sure.”

According to the New York theater guide, Take Me Out, written by Richard Greenberg and directed by Scott Ellis, “revolves around a mixed-race baseball star named Darren Lemming, who comes out as gay and is confronted off the field by deep-rooted, homophobic and racist prejudices.” Take Me Out stars Williams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Patrick J. Adams.
