Heartbreaking news this morning: It is with our deepest regret to inform you that legendary talk show host Jerry Springer has died at age 79.
His family released a statement this morning
saying Springer died peacefully Thursday at his home in suburban Chicago.
“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” said family spokesman Jene Galvin. He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart, and humor will live on.” As of right now, the cause of death has not been shared. However, a family spokesperson told TMZ that the star had been diagnosed with cancer in recent months.
According to local reports, funeral services and a memorial gathering are currently being arraigned. However, to remember Jerry, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, you consider following his spirit and make a donation or commit to an act of kindness to someone in need or to a worthy organization. As he always said, “Take care of yourself, and each other.”

More On Jerry Springer
Springer served as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978. He later became a household name in the US and abroad, having hosted his iconic talk show for over three decades. The “Jerry Springer Show” began its multi-decade run in 1991 and, in 1998 at the height of its popularity, beat “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” His show was known for its outrageous topics and guests, which became one of the most popular television shows.
After more than 4,000 episodes, it eventually came to an end in 2018… but not without a bang. Some of its last episodes had such titles as “Stripper Sex Turned Me Straight,” “Stop Pimpin’ My Twin Sister,” and “Hooking Up With My Therapist.”
Springer’s impact on pop culture cannot be understated. He was a pioneer in bringing provocative topics to mainstream audiences and opening up conversations about controversial subjects that were once taboo. Although he’s no longer with his fans, his supporters are promising to let his legacy continue to live on forever.
