The Oscar snub caused Jennifer Lopez to break down in tears after reading the nominations
In a video clip from the documentary, Jennifer Lopez is seen crying in bed after she was snubbed by the Academy for her critically-acclaimed role in the film “Hustlers.” ‘It was hard. I just had very low self-esteem. I had to really figure out who I was and believe in that and not believe in anything else,’ she said in a voiceover.
The singer was expected to join Lauren Dern, Kathy Bates, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, and Florence Pugh for the 2020 Oscar Nom. Dern later won the Academy Award for her role in “Marriage Story.”

The singer’s Netflix documentary will show behind-the-scenes footage of J.Lo’s career
Her new documentary with Netflix shows behind-the-scenes footage of Lopez preparing for the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show with Shakira and her performance during President Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration while reflecting on her decades-long career as a singer, actress, and mogul. It is expected to release internationally on June 14 but will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 8.
The documentary was announced in February after Lopez signed a multi-year deal with the platform with her company, Nuyorican Productions last year.
As reported by the New York Post, Lopez previously spoke about the criticism and struggles she faced throughout her career in 2018.
“Everybody was like, ‘She can’t sing. She can’t dance. She can’t act. She’s just a pretty face or her butt is big,’ or whatever they were saying about me. I started thinking, ‘Yeah, that’s true,’ and it really hurt me for a long time. Despite the hurt and the pain, I just kept going. I just couldn’t allow myself to let that become who I was.”

JLo literally deserves everything. Even after being constantly criticized for being a latina woman, being told she couldn’t do it all, she did THAT and still continues to do it everydamnday. The success and the love she has received till now is really a “f*ck you” for the haters
