Socialites, do y’all remember the infamous moment when Madonna kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera during their 2003 VMAs performance? Well, Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she was supposed to be part of their set, but apparently had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts.
Lopez spoke to E! News about a rumor that she was once approached to have joined the women on stage for what has since become one of the most controversial TV moments of the ‘00s. The “On The Floor” singer told the publication that while she was, in fact, approached to hit the stage with Madonna and Spears, she couldn’t make time for the performance because she was held up filming a movie out in Canada.

“We had met—me, her and Britney—to do it at her home,” she said. “And then, I just couldn’t get off the film, and so, we couldn’t do it.” Producers were then said to have approached Aguilera, who joined the Pop icons at the last minute. “We had talked about it. I love Madonna. I’m a huge fan. I always have been.”
It was just in August when Lopez sent Spears a message of support amid the drama that was unfolding between the pop superstar and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. At the time, Spears’ ex had bashed her over her parenting skills, claiming that their sons, Jayden and Sean Preston, hadn’t seen their mother in months and didn’t appreciate some of her behavior during the times they had been with her.
In three separate videos, Federline shared video footage of one of his boys with Spears recording their mom after she scolded him for not putting lotion on his “coarse” skin. When he questioned her on why she had stormed her way into his room while he was sleeping, she responded, “This is my house. If I want to come in here and give you lotion for your face because it’s coarse … y’all better start respecting me, are we clear?”

Spears later took to Instagram, writing, “As Jennifer Lopez once said ‘You look right down that camera and tell every little girl in the world to get loud and never ever back down to giving light to injustice’,” Britney wrote on Instagram, along with the video. “I’m here to share that freedom is a state of mind!”
Lopez reshared Spears’ Instagram post on Instagram, writing, “Stay strong.”
