Netflix and Tim Burton have teamed up to deliver the first-ever spinoff focused on everyone’s favorite member of the Addams Family — Wednesday.

Jenna Ortega pulls out the signature pigtails, all-black wardrobe, and dry, deadpan humor to give fans a deeper look into Wednesday Addams’ world — a backstory many never knew they needed.

Hollywood Unlocked hit the black carpet at the premiere, speaking with the cast and even testing their knowledge of the original Addams Family theme song!

We caught up with stars like Naomi J. Ogawa, who plays “Yoko Tanaka,” a new addition to the Addams Family universe. Ogawa shared that bringing diversity to the cast was extremely important to her, especially in a franchise where inclusion hadn’t traditionally been the focus.

With Tim Burton at the helm as executive producer and director, Wednesday introduces several new characters while keeping the signature dark, quirky humor that defines both Burton’s work and the Addams legacy.

In this series, fans follow Ortega’s Wednesday as she attends Nevermore Academy, a mysterious school for outcasts, and works to uncover a supernatural mystery involving her own family’s past. Along the way, she navigates secret societies, deadly visions, and plenty of hidden trapdoors — all while dealing with typical teenage drama like friendship, rivalry, and first crushes. Balancing coming-of-age themes with eerie suspense, Wednesday is both a teen detective story and a gothic comedy, capturing everything fans love about the Addams Family — with a fresh, modern twist.

Ortega is joined by an all-star cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, and Christina Ricci — the original ’90s Wednesday — in a secretive new role.

The Wednesday series officially dropped on Netflix on November 23rd, offering eight episodes packed with mystery, dark comedy, and a fresh, modern take on a beloved classic.
