Vice President JD Vance decided to pull up a chair on The View this week, but things did not go down the way he wanted. He walked onto the set trying to talk about his new book on faith, but the hosts quickly turned up the heat on him. They wanted to know why the administration is doing so much to harm Black communities and wipe out our culture. Instead of giving real answers, Vance tried to act like everything is totally fine. But the hosts weren’t having it at all.

Whoopi Goldberg did not waste any time and got straight to the point. She asked Vance what Black people did to make his administration treat folks of color so badly. Whoopi kept it entirely real, saying, “They’re taking down the actual history that happened in this country. Slavery happened, all kinds of stuff happened, and it seems that it has been very easy for this administration to remove that and also to denigrate Black folks who have worked their behinds off to get this American Dream.” Of course, Vance tried to act confused and asked what she meant, but the audience groaned because we all see what is happening.
Then, Sunny Hostin jumped in with the facts. She told Vance that Black voting areas are being broken up, Black leaders are being pushed aside, and our history is being erased. Sunny asked the question that we all want answered: “Where do Americans of color fit in this vision? Because it doesn’t seem like we fit.” Instead of answering her, Vance tried to change the subject and talk about crime. That is an old trick. Whenever politicians do not want to talk about fairness or racism, they start talking about crime to distract everyone.
When the hosts kept pressing him, Vance finally tried to tell a huge lie, claiming, “Black history is not erased from public spaces.” But the community has the receipts to prove he is wrong.
In real life, his administration actually stripped away more than 30 historical signs from a national park because those signs talked about slavery and racism against Black people. A judge literally had to step in and force the government to put the signs back up.
Vance can play nice on television all he wants, but his administration’s actions speak way louder than his words. The Viewhosts did exactly what needed to be done by standing up for the community and refusing to let him slide.
