Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl Stylist Wayne Claims Wardrobe Malfunction Was Intentional, “I ‘Did What I Was Hired For”

Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Superbowl has been one of the most talked-about moments in entertainment history, and we have always wondered what exactly happened.

It looks like pieces of the truth are finally coming out as Janet’s Super Bowl halftime show stylist Wayne Scot Lukas is sharing his side of events with Access Hollywood.

“I was hired to do a job. I did exactly what I was supposed to do,” Wayne Scot Lukas told “Access Hollywood.”

Wayne added that the network was supposed to cut black when Justin Timberlake ripped part of Janet’s outfit for his song, but they didn’t and left Janet exposed to the world.

“[He] came off the stage and said, ‘It was just a little wardrobe malfunction. We all want to give you something to think about,’” the stylist recalled of Justin. “He coined that phrase, and when he said that, I thought, ‘Friendship over.’

“Wardrobe malfunction? I don’t malfunction,” he added. “I was a professional stylist. $10,000 a day back then. I can’t fail. Why did you say that?”

“Somebody didn’t push the button. Somebody didn’t protect my friend,” he said.

As we reported, Justin Timberlake recently apologized to Janet, who received most of the backlash for the incident back then, adding that he “benefitted from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”
