Iran has announced Saturday that its military “unintentionally” shot down the Ukrainian jetliner that crashed outside of Tehran earlier this week.

Yahoo! News reports the statement was announced by officials early Saturday morning and blamed “human error” for the plane crash that killed all 176 passengers on board. Days before the announcement, Iran denied that a missile shot down the Boeing 737 during takeoff after its military launched several missiles towards U.S. forces hours before. The U.S. and Canada believed Iran shot down the passenger plane based on evidence from central intelligence.
