India has reached a new daily record of more than 400,000 new coronavirus cases on Saturday and 3,523 COVID-related deaths occurred within the past 24 hours.

According to Reuters, the country has added 7.7 million cases since the surge at the end of February based on health ministry data. The United States has provided emergency medical aid that arrived in the country on Friday where military planes have carried more than 400 oxygen cylinders, rapid coronavirus test kits, and other supplies to support the ongoing medical crisis.
India is suffering from a lack of resources which include hospital beds, medication, vaccines, and oxygen which is leading to the lack of access for those infected with the virus to receive treatment.

Cities and provinces such as Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are also dealing with the overpopulation of crematoriums due to the increased numbers of deaths from the virus. Medical officials say the death toll in the country could be several times higher than the death toll in the United States.
