Martha Stewart wants to continue to age gracefully and naturally!

The 81-year-old star, who made history this week as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue’s oldest-ever cover model, spoke with the New York Times and talked about how she’s able to maintain her great looks. During the interview, Ruth La Ferla brought up Madonna, who’s known for changing up her looks and who also “caught a lot of flak” earlier this year for her appearance at the 2023 Grammys.

Martha explained she does not need cosmetic procedures to change her looks. She also defended Madonna as she pointed out that she’s a performer who is into “reinventing” herself. She told the New York Times: “I would never compare myself to someone like Madonna. She is a talent like no other. But as a performer, she needs to keep reinventing herself. And it’s much more difficult for her to alter herself without altering her face. I don’t want to do that.”

She continued, “There’s another very big difference between me and Madonna: she is wearing pointy bras and weird clothes. I’m teaching you how to roll dough.”

This is not the first time she spoke to the outlet about her appearance. While speaking with The New York Times in 2022, Martha responded to rumors she had undergone a facelift. She made it clear at the time: “I have never had plastic surgery. You can absolutely say that. No knife on my face, neck, or back.”

What Is Martha Stewart’s Secret To Staying Ageless?

She previously spoke with Page Six and said her secret to her age-defying appearance is just drinking homemade green juices, a good skincare routine, and showing off her “best angles.”

While celebrating the huge accomplishment, Martha took to social media to share her excitement with her fans. She said, “I am so thrilled to be on the cover of the @SI_Swimsuit issue!… I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things, no matter what stage of life you are in. Changing, evolving, and being fearless – those are all very good things, indeed.”

Although she is proud of landing the cover, Stewart admits that she doesn’t really care about age. “I don’t think about age, ever. I have friends who are 90, and I have friends who are 20, and that is a very good way to look at life because age is not the determining factor in terms of friendship or in terms of success. Instead, she puts her focus to “what people do, how people think, how people act,” adding, “That’s what’s important, and not your age.”

In her cover story, Martha recalled the moment she found out she was going to part of the SI Swimsuit Issue: “When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,” Stewart told the magazine. “And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic.”

Ultimately for Miss Stewart, “it is a testament to good living and I think that all of us should think about good, successful living and not aging,” she also said during an interview of the Today show.
