Some Florida residents were taking advantage of the cold temperatures by picking up iguanas who fell off the trees and sold their meat as an alternative.
According to USA TODAY, Iguana meat became a popular delicacy to purchase on Facebook Marketplace after the state experienced a record cold temperature of 30 degrees. The reptiles are easier to catch since the freezing temperature can cause them to fall off of trees, giving sellers an opportunity to skin and sell their meat online.

One Twitter user noted that the meat is being sold on Facebook Marketplace for a dollar while another said: “Wait, people out here really buying iguana meat online?” Several others also commented that iguanas actually taste like chicken and there isn’t a difference between the two.
