About a month ago, IG model Gena Tew went viral after she revealed that she was diagnosed with AIDS. She’s now updating that she’s slowly regaining her vision and weight after her diagnosis.

At the time, Tew took to her TikTok to make her reveal and share details on how she learned she was sick. S
Tew said that for years she thought was testing for HIV when she was getting STD checks, but turns out that was not the case. While taking to her TikTok, Tew went on to tell her story and urged to her viewers the importance of young people getting regularly tested and staying safe, practicing safe sex.
She also updated viewers on her health and complications. Tew said she had gotten so sick and skinny to the point where she lost her mobility, couldn’t walk, couldn’t control her bowels, had begun to lose her eyesight in her left eye.
Throughout her videos, she acknowledged how the diagnosis had changed her life, and the life of her mom as well, who had become her caregiver.

Despite Tew speaking on how she learned she had the STD, she still says she does not know how she contracted it. However, she did say that she called her sexual partners to let them know of her positive status.
She shared that everyone she dialed had been more than supportive, checked in on her and made sure she was ok. She added that no one else she had made aware had tested positive themselves.
Social media investigators later tried to link her to famous and well known rappers and entertainers — which made her story even more viral. However, she tried to clear things up and say that some of the things people were saying, just wasn’t true.

IG Model Gena Tew Updates That She’s Slowly Regaining Weight & Her Vision After AIDS Diagnosis
In a new interview, Tew updates that she is continuing to fight against AIDS and that she has even regained some of the vision she lost after her diagnosis.
She revealed that she underwent a successful surgery on Thursday (Aug. 18) down in Memphis, TN. She says thanks to her doctors and them prescribing her specific medication, she is now even regaining some of the weight she lost. She says she’s now 95 pounds, up from the 60s and closer to her previous weight just around 100 pounds.
She also said that she is still receiving large amounts of support from others online. She even said she got a GoFundMe donation from singer Ari Lennox. Along with that, Gena remains hopeful that she can live her best life as long as she can moving forward.
