A man in Turkey was fatally shot by one of his dogs after it stepped on his shotgun during a hunting trip.

When the incident happened, 32-year-old Ozgur Geverkoglu was out hunting with a friend in the Samsun Province’s Kizlan Plateau. Geverkoglu was putting his dog into his car when his dog’s paw brushed the shotgun, which then fired a few shots at him, according to Newsweek. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he eventually passed away from his injuries.
An investigation is currently underway to see what transpired before the shooting and his body was transported to the Alacam State Hospital morgue. Ten days before his death, Geverkoglu celebrated the birth of his first child.

His social media posts consisted Geverkoglu holding the animals he hunted and some of the images included the young man taking selfies with two of his dogs. However, it is unclear which dog stepped on the shotgun and fired the fatal shot.
Police and prosecutors are investigating his death but didnt suspect any foul play.
Social media reacts to the shooting and called the entire incident a freak accident
After the story went viral online, several users felt different opinions about the case and some said they didn’t feel sympathy for Geverkoglu because he killed animals during his hunting trips.

In a report by the Daily Mail, local media reports claim the dog shooting could’ve been a cover up for an alleged murder. However, some stated the shooting was most likely a freak accident.
