Although it’s been weeks since the 65th Grammy Awards, Diplo is speaking out to clear his name following the viral video where fans believe he shaded Queen Bey!

As we previously reported, the history-making singer snagged one of the biggest awards at the Grammys and of course, many fans were happy for her achievement. However, a viral video appeared to show Diplo, seemingly reacting differently. When it was announced that Beyoncé won the Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for her record “Renaissance,” fans assumed that the DJ, who has worked with the superstar a few times in the past, said “they bought that” as she walked to the stage to accept her award.

However, following the online backlash, Diplo responded by posting the clip in the final slide of an Instagram post which included subtitles that read, “I’m glad to be part of this,” clarifying what he actually said. Now, Diplo caught wind of the latest episode of the @JasonLeeShow with Laverne Cox where he asked the actress what were her thoughts on the viral clip. Diplo, however, was quick to remind us that he did NOT say that the iconic singer bought her award.

Aside from that, the night was all Beyonce’s as she made history. Her win also marked the first time a Black woman has won the best dance/electronic album. Beyoncé’s other wins of the evening included best R&B song for “Cuff It,” best dance/electronic recording for “Break My Soul,” as well as best traditional r&b performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa.”

During her acceptance speech she said,
“Thank you so much, I’m trying not to be too emotional,” Beyoncé told the crowd, which included her husband, Jay-Z. “I’m trying to just receive this night. I want to thank God for protecting me, thank you God. I’d like to thank my Uncle Johnny who’s not here but he’s here in spirit. I’d like to thank my parents—my father, my mother for loving me and pushing me. I’d like to thank my beautiful husband, my beautiful three children who are at home watching. I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre. God bless you. Thank you so much to the Grammys.”

In an Instagram post, Bey also gave a shout out to her collaborators on those songs, and included the note that “PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA is my favorite song on RENAISSANCE most days. It’s hard to pick though. Haaa.”
