In new court documents exclusively obtained by Hollywood Unlocked, rapper Jeezy alleges that his estranged wife, TV host Jeannie Mai, has allegedly denied him visitation to their 2-year-old daughter, Monaco Mai Jenkins. According to the documents, filed on Tuesday (April 16) in a Fulton County, Georgia court, Jeezy claims he’s only seen his daughter 8 times this year and has no knowledge of where she is living.

After Jeezy and Jeannie Mai married on March 27, 2021, in a private ceremony at their Atlanta, Georgia home, they went on to welcome a baby girl, Monaco Mai Jenkins, on January 11, 2022. However, on September 14, 2023, Jeezy, born Jay Wayne Jenkins, ended up filing for divorce from his wife after two years of marriage.

At the time of Jeezy’s divorce filing, he claimed he had been separated from his wife Jeannie Mai, with “no hope for reconciliation.” It was also reported that the two had signed a prenuptial agreement and that he was seeking joint legal and physical custody of their daughter.

Since the divorce filing, both Jeezy and Jeannie Mai have been battling things out in court and the petitions from each side continue to be filed. In November 2023, it was reported that Jeezy accused Jeannie Mai of being a “gatekeeper” when it came to him spending time with their daughter. Subsequently, he called on a judge to step in and set a custody schedule.

At the time, Radar Online reported that Jeezy and Jeannie Mai agreed on a visitation schedule, but things had failed. The rapper’s lawyer reportedly wrote in the filing, “The lack of consistency, continuity, and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the Child, and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the Child is in their respective custody.”

Jeezy’s lawyer also reportedly claimed that the rapper didn’t believe his estranged wife was “acting maliciously or with specific intent to harm,” but did feel as if she was acting as a “gatekeeper.” The motion reportedly read, “[Mai’s] interference with [Jeezy’s] relationship with the Child, again, while not generated from or with malicious intent, is nevertheless, causing confusion and tension between the parties and is working to stifle the development of [Jeezy’s] relationship with the Child. As such, it is necessary at this point to separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the Child.”

In December 2023, Jeannie Mai ended up denying Jeezy’s “gatekeeper” claims. TMZ reported that Mai claimed in court documents that she wasn’t being a “gatekeeper,” but was more so concerned about their daughter’s safety. In the documents, Jeannie Mai reportedly said she had been allowing Jeezy visitation and even extended time for the holidays.

Her lawyer wrote in the filing, “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being.”

Her legal team added, “These requests are grounded in Ms. Jenkins’ genuine concern for the parties’ daughter’s safety and security, especially when under the care of others and traveling across the country, and are reasonable protective measures, not an attempt to restrict Mr. Jenkins’ access to their daughter.”

On April 11, 2024, TMZ then updated that Jeezy reportedly demanded full custody of his and Jeannie Mai’s 2-year-old daughter. The site reported that Jeannie Mai allegedly hasn’t been taking care of the child herself, so Jeezy reportedly asked a judge to toss their current custody schedule and allow their daughter to live with him full-time. It was reported that when the couple first separated, Jeezy reportedly agreed to move into the basement of their family home, but Jeannie Mai moved out of the house, taking their daughter with her.

The site further reported that since moving out, Jeezy alleged that his estranged wife hasn’t been watching their daughter full-time, instead tasking her brother and mother with the duty due to her extensive travel schedule. Jeezy also reportedly claimed that Jeannie Mai hasn’t held up her end of the deal with his visitation rights for nearly 2 months. Jeezy reportedly claimed that their daughter would have more stability if he had primary physical custody.

Days later, on April 16, 2024, Jeezy filed a petition for a renewed motion for a temporary hearing, clarifying his custody request with Jeannie Mai. As previously mentioned, since November 2023, the former couple made formal and informal efforts to establish a parenting schedule. However, things have mostly failed, with Jeezy alleging that despite numerous attempts, he has only been allowed to see his daughter for a total of 8 days this year. The court documents reveal Jeezy had his daughter for spring break, from March 3, 2024 to March 9, 2024, and then again on April 8, 2024.

In the new court documents exclusively obtained by Hollywood Unlocked, Jeezy claims to have no information on where his daughter is living or what state she’s in. Jeezy further alleged that Jeannie Mai has blocked him from communication attempts and has failed to adhere to the mediated agreements for communication and child visitation.

In his new motion, Jeezy is currently seeking joint legal and physical custody with a court-determined parenting schedule. The rapper notes that he is not trying to take his daughter away from her mother, he simply wants equal time with his daughter. He also emphasizes the importance of the child spending time with both sides of the family to appreciate and learn about both her Vietnamese and African American cultures.
