President Donald Trump is suggesting a new way to deal with government employees who leak information, claiming the info-sharing “scum of the Earth should be shot.”

Trump shared his suggestion during a midterms campaign rally in Bullhead City, Arizona on Wednesday (October 14). While speaking to his MAGA crowd, Trump was discussing a strike in Iran.
He shared how it was apparently called off after details about the operation appeared in the media. He was seemingly referring to a U.S. Military attack on nuclear facilities in June 2025. Despite the leak, the U.S. pivoted and postponed the attack for a later date, but same time of day.
Trump told his crowd:
“Iran was waiting for him and they never got to see them. 1 ‘o clock in the morning, they flew over. You know somebody leaked, some sleazebag. They ought to go to jail or be shot. For the rest of their life, they should be in jail. But, they leaked that we were leaving at 12:07 from Missouri and it was in The New York Times, CNN. They leaked the time we were leaving. The time we were arriving. And I called General Raising Cane. And I said, ‘General, that’s not good is it?’ He said, ‘Not good, sir. But, we can do it anyway.’ I said, ‘Let’s change the time.’ So, I called off the raid. And you know who the unhappiest people were? The pilots. They were miserable. So, after two days I said, ‘Alright, good. Now we can do the raid. Let’s leave it at exactly the same time.’ That was the only time that they didn’t expect us to be used. We used the exact same time. But, they leaked. Leakers should be—in my opinion—leakers should be shot. They should be shot.”
As Trump’s MAGA crowd began shouting in agreement and applauding, he continued:
“In the old days, we used to shoot leakers, you know. When they leak what time you’re going to attack a country–and the reason you’re attacking is really for defense because you don’t want them to have a weapon that can blow up millions of people at one shot. You know, leakers should be dealt with very, very strongly. they’re real—to me—they’re the scum of the Earth. The leakers are the scum of the Earth.”
