Houston Mom & Boyfriend Arrested For Killing 2-Year-Old And Leaving Her In Sewage Drain

Another tragic case of a child being murdered by the people who are supposed to love her and keep her safe.

A Houston woman and her boyfriend have been charged for the murder of two-year-old Maliyah Rosalie Bass who was discovered in a sewage drain.

Sahara Ervin, 20, and Travion Thompson, 21, were arrested Tuesday and charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence. The most sickening part to this crime is that the couple appeared angry and distraught in public upon discovering the child’s death. They initially claimed that the child went missing while playing in the courtyard. During the search, Thompson even scolded the police saying, “Y’all are supposed to have four, five dogs looking for my baby.”

However, they turned out to be the real criminals. Court documents note that Ervin hit Maliyah with a blunt object. According to ABC 13 in Houston, Thompson told officers that Ervin beat the girl with a hairbrush the night of Aug. 20 because she would not go to sleep. Apparently, they put her in a broom closet and discovered that she was dead the next morning. Upon discovering that she had died, the pair put her in a sewage drain on the same day that they reported her missing.

An autopsy report shows that Maliyah had a broken left forearm and extensive superficial blunt force trauma in the form of looped-pattern bruising all over her body.

The couple are currently in custody. Thompson’s bonds total $150,000 and Ervin’s total $175,000.
