Honey Boo Boo’s Mom Reacts To Her Wanting Weight loss Surgery For Her 17th Birthday — Thinks She’s Too Young For Gastric Sleeve
As we previously reported, reality star Honey Boo Boo wants to get weight loss surgery for her 17th birthday. Her rep Gina Rodriguez initially shared that the reality star will be heading to Queens, New York in late August for the procedure.
It was said that Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, is going to get a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss doctor Steven Batash, which can set someone back about $13K. Per TMZ, Alana is currently 275 pounds and wants to get down to 150. Ultimately she just wants to live her best and healthier life.
Now, Alana previously spoke with Entertainment Tonight and she explained that he plans are not set and stoned just yet. She also shared that she has tried diets and even increased her exercise over the past year but hasn’t gotten the results she hoped she would so she’s basically ready to go under the knife. So how does Mama June feel about all of this? Mama June tells TMZ … “I’m supportive if this is something Alana wants to get, but I would say she needs to wait until she’s 18 years old.” She also says Alana didn’t tell her about her medical plans before deciding to go through with it.
To note, Honey Boo Boo reportedly plans to get the procedure done with her boyfriend who also wants to lose weight. However, June explained that this procedure isn’t something you just get done and think everything will be fine. She noted that she has dealt with weight loss surgery before, but ended up gaining back 100 pounds.
So What Is Mama June Going To Do About Her Teen’s Daughter’s Decision?
She says she’s going to tell Alana’s sister, Pumpkin, that she should just hold off… for now.
For those who don’t know, Pumpkin is Alana’s guardian now and signed off on the surgery. However, June adds, “It kind of bothers me that Pumpkin didn’t tell me. If Alana wants to do it, she should wait to sign her own paperwork at 18.”
