“Honey Boo Boo” reality star Alana Thompson’s boyfriend Dralin Carswell was arrested earlier this week for driving under the influence while she was sitting in the passenger seat. According to reports, Carswell was driving a Dodge Charger when cops tried to pull him over for a traffic stop out in Georgia on Tuesday — but instead, the 21-year-old is said to have driven past police, leading to a three-mile high-speed chase.
One of the cops on the chase had to use the PIT maneuver, which is a tactic commonly used to turn a fleeing vehicle sideways when hit from the back, causing Carswell’s car to spin and reach a standstill before officers made their arrest. Carswell was hit with a list of offenses, including driving while under the influence, speeding, not maintaining lines, and following too closely. Though Thompson was not arrested, she was taken to the Monroe County Jail where she was picked up by her sister (and legal guardian) Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Shannon Efird. Carswell was released from custody on Thursday.
Thompson and her beau have been in a relationship for about two years now, having made headlines when they first made things official due to their noticeable age difference. Some people didn’t think it was appropriate that Carswell, who was 19 at the time, was seeing a 15-year-old. But from what Pumpkin had previously said in an interview, Carswell has apparently always treated her sister with love and respect, and they’re still going strong.
“Me and my husband love Darlin,” the former reality star told The Sun at the time. “He’s very respectful and treats Alana with the utmost respect. He is around us and our kids a bunch also and we love him for Alana.”
Despite what’s transpired this week with law enforcement officials, Thompson has clearly found someone in her life that she values and loves in the midst of all the drama that’s been unfolding in her family — particularly with her mother, Mama June. The mother-daughter duo has not been on good terms in a while, which is why Pumpkin ended up being granted custody over her sibling.

For her 17th birthday in August, Mama June had penned a heartfelt text message asking Thompson for forgiveness over some of the things she’d put her through in recent years. “hope u have a good day,” the message obtained by TMZ read. “I am very proud of [you] with everything … graduating high school which [is] a big deal. I know I have put [you] through a lot and Im sorry.”
