Hilary Duff’s Nine-Year-Old Son Witnessed Her Home Birth

Hilary Duff revealed on a podcast how she wanted her nine-year-old son to witness her home birth to teach him a lesson about a woman’s strength.

Last month, Duff gave birth to her daughter Mae and her son Luca was present for the entire moment. She said during the “Informed Pregnancy” podcast that Luca wanted to be there for his little sister’s birth and added that he knows everything about periods and other things women deal with in their lifetime in regards to their health.

“It was kind of important for me because I’m really big on being open and honest with him about how strong women are and what childbirth looks like. He knows all about periods and it’s important for me to normalize that conversation with him for all the women that are going to be in his life.”

According to Page Six, Mae is Duff’s youngest child with Matthew Koma and their oldest daughter, Banks Violet, was not around for the birth. She said that she wants the childbirth experience to help Luca prepare for the future when he has his own children.

“I want him to someday when he’s ready to have a child with his partner or wife or whatever, I want him to be able to respect the way that she wants to be able to have a baby, and if that’s at home, that can be at home, if that’s in a hospital, it will be a hospital. There are many different ways.”
