Disgraced Hollywood hotshot Harvey Weinstein is requesting for a new judge in his case after he was threatened with jail for using his cell phone in court
Weinstein’s lawyers made the request ahead of his upcoming Manhattan sex assault trial,
“We write to seek recusal of your honor from this case based on the prejudicial and inflammatory comments made by the court to Mr. Weinstein yesterday morning, which received widespread press attention,” his lawyer wrote.
Page Six reports that on Tuesday, Judge James Burke went off on Weinstein for texting on his phone,
“Mr. Weinstein, I could not implore you more to not answer the following question: Is this really the way you want to end up in jail for the rest of your life, by texting in violation of an order?” the judge said.
Weinstein’s lawyer believes that the judge has a bias against him.
As we reported, Harvey is facing two counts of sexual assault, one count of a criminal sex act and two counts of rape.
