Harvey Weinstein Charged With New Sex Crimes In L.A.

Welp, things continue to get bad for Harvey Weinstein as he has just been charged with rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles on the same day he appeared in a New York court in a separate case!

The latest charges stem from accusations brought by a pair of women who claim Weinstein attacked them in hotels in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills back in 2013, Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacy said during a downtown news conference earlier this Monday morning.

“We believe the evidence will show that the defendant used his power and influence to gain access to his victims and then commit crimes against them,” Lacey said in a statement. “I want to commend the victims who have come forward and bravely recounted what happened to them,” The Los Angeles Times quotes.

Weinstein’s Monday, January 6 appearance was just one day before jury selection begins in the trial. Prosecutors in Los Angeles recommend setting his bail at $5 million. Now, if he is convicted Weinstein faces up to 28 years in state prison for the charges in L.A.
