In recent weeks, ‘Love and Hip Hop: Miami‘ star and rapper GunPlay has been trending after reports surfaced of him being arrested for domestic violence after allegedly pulling a gun on his wife and their 1-year-old daughter, who was in her mother’s arms at the time. Following GunPlay’s arrest, his wife took to social media and alleged that her husband had relapsed on alcohol and drugs, leading to more arguing and fighting in their household. She also updated that she was filing for divorce in the state of Florida.
In continued updates, Vonshae said that their arguing had become violent due to her husbands alleged excessive drinking. She even uploaded videos of him allegedly breaking their sink, and a video of him visibly taking a cooking pan from the sink and aggressively using it to smash their flat screen TV. Coupled with the shocking video, Vonshae also shared a video of him “sobered up” the next morning, promising to buy his wife a new flat screen.
Before the videos were published and divorce announcement, Florida police body cam footage surfaced from the gun incident, where GunPlay told cops that Vonshae hit him in the head with a bottle of liquor. Captioning the post with GunPlay breaking the family’s TV, Vonshae addressed it, plus more.
She said, “I was trying my hardest to just let his little story slide but I can’t… Yes, I hit him with a bottle I did anything possible to make him let go of our daughter and the police know that. Furthermore, my grandmother has been dead for SIX years. Didn’t know I could call the dead. This was back when I found out I was pregnant before we moved to Brickell. All of this because I poured out HIS Hennessy AFTER he kept buying liquor trippin’, (notice in his statement he said it was me with Hennessy and he broke the TV over a game once b4) he almost assaulted a fan in the parking lot just for saying “I went to high-school with you.”
She added, “He did it that afternoon. This BEEN a issue. thought during my pregnancy since things were better he will be ok. After Osanna came and got sick he went back to all his old ways. I have plenty of recordings of incidents like this and how his aggression, drinking and using progressed over time. Now here we are present day all the drama has transpired and he savs the very next day on a recorded jail call he don’t remember anything to MULTIPLE people. This is his cycle. At some point enough is enough. Once again I tried my very best to help him and change him and I failed. We all just want to move on and heal from this situation. So let’s stop playing Nancy Drew and judging people. This situation is very serious. Let’s pray for ALL parties involved.”

Vonshae went on her Instagram live over the weekend and shared that although she filed for divorce after their domestic violence drama, and fully intended on leaving her husband, but he doesn’t want to let her go and has refused to sign the papers.
In her live, Vonshae spoke on the Florida laws stopping her divorce, “I filed for divorce. He would not sign divorce papers. So, I’m stuck. Unfortunately in the state of Florida, I cannot divorce him without his permission. Unless he goes to jail, convicted, or he’s a mental institution patient.”

Then, Vonshae jokingly agrees with a fan’s comment about her being “the new Joy Young,” which is her ‘Love & Hip Hop: Miami‘ co-star and estranged wife of Miami rap legend Trick Daddy, whose also been affected by the Florida laws. The two are still legally married despite separating in 2022, after almost 20 years of marriage. Joy has filed for divorce, but Trick refuses to let her out of the marriage.
Vonshae continued to admit, “I love him. That’s my best friend. But, unfortunately, sometimes you have to let the person you love go so he can find himself. And I want him to find himself and to get help. We do have a child together so it is what it is.” She also said that despite their domestic violence drama, “I’m not an evil b*tch. We’re not fighting. We all know he has issues. He needs help. He’s going to get the help he needs. And we will co-parent. That’s all we want to do. I am done done, we’re just friends and co-parenting.”
