Black Twitter was not pleased with fashion brand Guess’s latest bag due to its imitation of Telfar’s shopping bag.

The similarities were first noticed by Fashion Director and Black Fashion Fair founder Antione Gregory where he indicated that Guess’s Embossed Logo-G Tote was oddly similar to Telfar’s Shopping Tote. Both bags have a similar silhouette and the G logo is in the same placement as Telfar Clemen’s initials. Gregory added in his tweet that Guess has the resources to mass-produce their bags in comparison to Telfar due to the industry’s treatment of Black designers.

Other Twitter users believe Telfar should issue a cease and desist letter to Guess, stating the brand stole intentionally copied the logo placement and bag shape in order to profit off of the shopping tote’s popularity.

Guess previously faced a lawsuit with Gucci in 2008 after accusations of imitating the brand’s infamous interlocking pattern, the green and red stripe, and their font. Gucci won the lawsuit which prohibited Guess from using their trademarks.
