Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference Thursday that he did not believe it was the best strategy to quarantine all of New York.
According to the Daily Mail, Governor Cuomo said his plan to quarantine New York was not the most ideal strategy due to its effects on the economy and the number of young people living at home with their older relatives who could’ve exposed them to the virus. He is planning to work with medical officials to produce a test that will identify coronavirus antibodies in a healthy individual.
‘It’s something we’re working through. The smartest way forward is a modified public health strategy that dovetails and compliments a get back to work strategy. What we did was we closed everything down. Closed everything. If you re-thought that or had time to analyze it, I don’t know that you would say, “quarantine everyone.”

The test will use the plasma from the healthy individual and use it as a treatment for a sick person so they can build immunity against the virus. Currently, the test is being developed in Mount Sinai but there has been no further information as to when it will be available to the general public.

He also plans to have two people share one ventilator in order to lessen the quickening issue of a lack of medical supplies in New York.

We now have people who have been on ventilators for 20-30 days. The longer you are on a ventilator, the more likely you’re not going to come off the ventilator. That is what is happening.
