Girlfriend Testifies Daunte Wright Was “Just Gasping” After Being Shot By Kim Potter
During the trial of officer Kim Potter, the female passenger who was riding in the vehicle with Daunte Wright the day he got shot, gave graphic testimony of the events.
Alayna Albrecht-Payton, recalls screaming at Wright when he was shot to get a response but he “wasn’t answering me and he was just gasping.”
“I grabbed whatever was in the car. I don’t remember if it was a sweater or a towel or something … and put it on his chest like you see in movies and TV shows,” Alayna testified. “I didn’t know what to do.”

Payton revealed she answered Wright’s cell phone when his mother called, and his mother witnessed her son’s lifeless body on facetime.
“I pointed the camera on him,” Albrecht-Payton added. “And I’m so sorry I did that.”
Officer Kim Potter, 49, is charged with first-degree and second-degree manslaughter in Wright’s April 11 death. She resigned two days after the shooting and claims that she meant to use her Taser, but grabbed her gun instead.
In the graphic footage, Potter says, “I just shot him. … I grabbed the wrong (expletive) gun!” She can then be heard crying and yelling, “Oh my God. Oh my God!”
The trial is currently underway.
