Gay Polyamorous Throuple Make History In Listing 3 Dads On A Birth Certificate
After dropping more than $120,000 in legal fees, contracts, surrogacy, and more, a gay polyamorous throuple in California has made history after officially listing 3 dads on their child’s birth certificate. The polyamorous couple includes Dr. Ian Jenkins and his partners, Jeremy Hodges and Dr. Alan Mayfield. Together they parent their 3-year-old daughter Piper, and 1-year-old son, Parker.
Although the legal battle began in 2017, after Piper’s birth, Jenkins is gearing up to tell the trio’s story in a new book (‘Three Dads and a Baby‘) coming out this month. It will recount the events that took place to mark the throuple’s place in history.

Additionally, the book will talk about the family dynamic and how the trio and their children don’t see anything unusual. Jenkins says, “The fact that Piper has three parents is just not a big deal. I have three parents myself — my mother, father and stepmother — and no one thinks anything of it. Some people seem to think it’s about a ton of sex or something, or we’re unstable and must do crazy things. [But] it’s really remarkably ordinary and domestic in our house and definitely not ‘Tiger King.'”
