On Sunday, FBI officials said forensics tests have not been finished but they believe the body that was discovered is consistent with the description of Petito as reported by TMZ. Her family was also notified about the discovery but the cause of death is currently unknown.
The young woman was first reported missing on Sept.11 after her boyfriend Brian Laundrie returned from the trip alone back to their home in North Port, Florida. He didn’t speak with reporters upon his return and apparently went “missing” after his family didn’t hear from him since Tuesday.

Petito’s family released a statement amid hearing the news about Laundrie’s disappearance and said “All of Gabby’s family wants the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing.”
Currently, the whereabouts of Laundrie is currently unknown and a woman named Miranda Baker on TikTok claimed she picked him up when she and her boyfriend went to the national park in Wyoming. However, he didn’t stay for long as the couple was heading to a location in Jackson Hall.
