Amid the controversy surrounding the documentary “Framing Britney Spears”, Frontier Airlines has launched a contest for those named Britney. The marketing move has caused fans to criticize the airline for its bad timing.

In the following tweet, Frontier Airlines wrote: “Frontier wants Britneys to Fly for Free! If your first name is ‘Britney’ you can fly free.* Enter here: bit.ly/3rNlEJ9. #FreeBritney #BritneysFlyFree .” The promotion is offering a $250 flight voucher for those with the first name “Britney” and they can use the free flight between Feb. 23 and March 3. However, this offer is only for the first 100 people who apply for the promotion through an entry form.

However, fans were not pleased with the airline’s marketing due to it launching amid the buzz surrounding “Framing Britney Spears.” One Twitter user said, “Commercializing off of a woman’s suffering is enabling the culture that allowed it to happen in the first place. I will never fly Frontier because of this. Ever. Absolutely revolting. #FreeBritney“
