The list of Republicans eyeing the presidential spot is looking real interesting as former Vice President has now entered the upcoming race.
The Federal Election Commission’s website shows Pence and his campaign committee officially registered this Monday. It was said that he will publicly announce the bid on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa, which will also be his 64th birthday. This now puts him against his former boss Donald Trump and a host of other candidates including Florida governor Ron DeSantis for the Republican party’s nomination.
Does he have a good chance? Well, so far, his poll numbers have been better than some of his competitors. However, he’s been consistently polling behind ex-president Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in national surveys of Republican primary voters, The Hill notes. In a May poll by CNN, Pence was the first choice of 6 percent of Republicans. Mr. Trump currently leading the early fight for the nomination.
This will be a race to remember as many are expecting things to get a little intense between Trump and Pence.

As previously reported, Trump dropped his support for the former VP after he was impeached. Donald Trump had also pressured Mr. Pence to overturn Joe Biden’s election victory when he presided over the certification of results in Congress. Shockingly, Pence refused, and when he did, some Trump supporters, were heard chanting “hang Mike Pence” as they stormed the halls of Congress.
Back in March, Pence finally admitted during an interview that “President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election, and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable.”
Democrats Running For President
After months hinting to run for reelection, President Biden made it official on April 25 with the release of a video declaring “let’s finish this job.”
“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America — and we still are,” the president said in the three-minute-long video. “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer. I know what I want the answer to be. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for reelection.”
“Around the country, MAGA extremists are lining up to take those bedrock freedoms away,” Mr. Biden said. “Cutting social security that you’ve paid for your entire life while cutting taxes for the very wealthy. Dictating what health care decisions women can make, banning books, and telling people who they can love. All while making it more difficult for you to be able to vote.” He added, “Let’s finish this job, I know we can,” he said, “because this is the United States of America. And there’s nothing we can’t do if we do it together.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson are other democrats running in the upcoming election.
