Former President George W. Bush Calls On Americans To Confront Domestic Violent Extremists On 9/11 Anniversary

Instead of attending the ceremony at Ground Zero today with President Biden, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton, former President George W. Bush delivered a speech at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania this Saturday.

While honoring and remembering the lives that were lost on this tragic day 20 years ago, Bush called on Americans to confront domestic violent extremists, comparing them to violent extremists abroad and warning that they are “children of the same foul spirit.”

“There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home,” Bush said. “But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit.” He added, “And it is our continuing duty to confront them.”

As we previously reported, Trump, did not participate in the ceremony with the presidents. However, he did deliver a pre-taped message to mark the anniversary.
