Former DJ For The Ellen Show Says He Did ‘Experience And Feel The Toxicity’ On Set

Another former employee is speaking out to share his experience working on The Ellen Show and just like the others, he didn’t have the best one.

Tony Okungbowa, who worked the DJ booth on The Ellen Show, shared an Instagram post where he revealed he “did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment” while working on the series for several seasons. Okungbowa — now an actor who stars on the CBS sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola” — worked as a DJ for Ellen from 2003 to 2013, before he was replaced by Stephen “tWitch” Boss.

While opening up to fans, he said:
“I have been getting calls asking me about the Ellen Degeneres Show and I would like to address the time I spent there,” he started off. “I was on air talent from 2003-2006 and from 2007 -2013. While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment.”

He didn’t go into detail in his short post, but ended off by saying, “I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward.”

For the past couple of weeks, Ellen has been making headlines after former staffers came forward to share their experience working on the talk show. While a number of them described the workplace to be “toxic,” others shared that they’ve experienced “racism” and “bullying” while working on set. Ellen has apologized in a letter to staffers and vowed that she is “committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”

However, an internal investigation into racism and bullying has been launched. To make matters worse, Show staffers have also come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct among the show’s top executives.

According to the latest report by The Wrap, amid those big allegations, ratings for Ellen DeGeneres‘ daytime talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” or “Ellen,”  have hit an all-time low.
